FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL
Greetings and welcome to the new academic session of 2016-17.
Here’s wishing you a warm welcome to the new academic season 2016-2017. The last year was very eventful as we touched many milestones and our students having won laurels in many inter-school competitions.
I take this opportunity also to welcome our first batch of grade XI students and look forward to guide them in choosing their academic streams and help them make the right choices in college and their careers.
In our pursuit of technology as an educational tool in the 21st century and to lighten the school bags, we have decided to implement the digital textbooks and learning solutions for students of class VII for the academic year 2016-2017. The School will be issuing digital textbooks and multimedia content and will also be administering homework tests and assessments through these devices.
Just as every varied hue is vital to make a complete picture, every child of the DPS family is precious to our growth. We ensure that no child is left behind as we progress and grow as an institution. We host a unit for children with special needs and have accomodated RTE children in an inclusive environment. We have developed an inclusive curriculum, graded question papers, as this provides the children the dignity and confidence to learn. The values our children imbibe from the diverse environment will help us to send out sensitive and caring citizens in to the society.
The four pillars of education as described in the UNESCO report are learning to know; learning to live together; learning to do and learning to be. At DPS Whitefield we have been pursuing these four pillars of knowledge as part of our curriculum. In this academic session, I would like to emphasise on “Learning to be”, by giving our students that kind of education which would contribute to every child’s development- mind and body, intelligence, sensitivity, aesthetic appreciation and spirituality. The child should be able to develop his own critical way of thinking and judgement. His education should be a highly individualized process and at the same time an interactive social experience.
Culture is generally thought of as the normative glue that holds a school together. With shared visions, values and beliefs at its heart, the DPS culture serves as a compass setting, steering parents and students in a common and purposeful direction. I therefore request parents to follow the rules and guidelines as this is critical to our success. So lets join hands together to give our children “A Better Tomorrow”.
